As a private tutor herself Lyn understands the importance of mentoring young people and individually tailoring teaching practice to suit varied learning styles.

Lyn is passionate about making a dedicated commitment to young people achieving confidence and excellence in their studies.

The benefits of tutoring

I recommend to clients (parents and carers) that engaging the services of a tutor sooner than later is the best idea that they could ever have when it comes to helping their students feel happy about wanting to go to school.

Ultimately it is about fostering the love of learning. Sadly, while as teachers in the classroom we aim to care for our young people, when there are 25 people in a class and content to get through the person can often be overlooked. Believe it or not people learn differently.

As educators we are busy teaching to a median which doesn’t sit with most learning styles. As a tutor with a teaching background we have this knowledge and know how to adapt our teaching methodology to suit the individual young person.

Working one on one allows exploration of ideas and experimentation of expressing thoughts to write the interesting newspaper article or creative story. I find that there will be times when I meet a student who for some reason is very negative about what they can and cannot do.

Depending on the individual’s temperament will determine how long it takes to break through this barrier. The look of pride when the hurdle of producing a written piece that meets the stringent criteria is priceless.

Our job as tutors though is to remind our students that while we are proud of this achievement then there can be no excuse that the next challenge cannot be met and executed in a very sound manner.
