Surviving Year 12 - Looking After Yourself

Year 12 see to be about work when you are outside looking in. Provided you have taken some note to my previous blog post, Surviving the Dreaded Year 12 then there can be time for leisure friends and family events. No matter what we do in life we must be considerate of a work life balance to help maintain emotional well being and a positive mind set. Therefore year 12 can be a learning time to master this technique.

Sometimes it is easy to be caught up with negative comments from mates. Let it be you who is the proactive one to say let’s take some time to go for a walk, movies or a picnic. The need to have time to switch off and chill are so important as the wheels of the year keep turning. Be aware  in another sense year 12 is relatively short depending on the subjects chosen. You might be one of those who finishes at the end of term 3. This then can make this time quite intense from the start of February until the end of September. A total of eight months. Who said that it was a year?

Having a regular discussion or dialogue with your teacher can relieve your stress so that you can share with your tutor and be in a good place to move on to the next phase of the assignment. Tutors like to work in with teacher expectation and are another resource to make tasks easier so fun time can be factored in and not ignored. There are many people who are there to support you from parents, friends and the professionals such as your teachers and tutors.

Sleep well. Eat Well. These are important to maintain a focus on the task at hand.
